Balsamic Fig Jam Grilled Cheese Delight Recipe
Ingredients
- 4 slices sourdough bread
- 4 tablespoons balsamic fig jam
- 6 ounces creamy goat cheese, softened
- 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
- 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
- 1 pinch salt
- 1 pinch pepper
- to taste fresh thyme leaves for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Spread 1 tablespoon of balsamic fig jam evenly on two slices of sourdough bread.
- On top of the fig jam, spread half of the softened goat cheese, and then layer on half of the shredded cheddar cheese. Season lightly with salt and pepper.
- Place the remaining slices of sourdough on top to create two sandwiches, with the cheese filling in the middle.
- Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat. While it warms up, butter the outer sides of both sandwiches.
- Place the sandwiches in the skillet. Cook for about 3-4 minutes on one side, checking for a golden brown color before carefully flipping.
- Once flipped, grill the other side for another 3-4 minutes until both sides are golden and the cheese is melted.
- Remove from heat, slice each sandwich in half, and garnish with fresh thyme leaves if desired.
