Blueberry Crumble Bars Delightfully Simple Treat
Ingredients
- 2 cups fresh blueberries
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup rolled oats
- 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line an 8x8-inch baking dish with parchment paper, leaving some overhang for easy removal later.
- In a medium bowl, combine the fresh blueberries, granulated sugar, lemon juice, and vanilla extract. Gently toss the blueberries until well coated. Set aside.
- In a separate large bowl, mix together the flour, rolled oats, brown sugar, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon until evenly combined.
- Pour the melted butter into the dry ingredients and stir until the mixture resembles a crumbly texture. Reserve about 1 cup of the crumble mixture for topping.
- Press the remaining crumble mixture evenly into the bottom of the prepared baking dish to form the base. Bake in the preheated oven for 10 minutes.
- After the base has baked, remove from the oven and spread the blueberry mixture evenly over the crust.
- Sprinkle the reserved crumble on top of the blueberries, making sure to cover them as evenly as possible.
- Return the baking dish to the oven and bake for an additional 25-30 minutes, or until the crumble is golden brown and the blueberries are bubbly.
- Once baked, remove from the oven and let it cool in the pan for at least 15 minutes before lifting it out using the parchment overhang.
- Allow the bars to cool completely on a wire rack before cutting them into squares.
