Ingredients

  • 2 whole ripe avocados
  • 0.5 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 0.5 cup maple syrup or honey
  • 0.25 cup almond milk or any milk of choice
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 pinch sea salt
  • to taste optional toppings: whipped coconut cream, fresh berries, or crushed nuts

Instructions

  1. Start by cutting the avocados in half and removing the pits. Scoop the flesh into a blender or food processor.
  2. Add the unsweetened cocoa powder, maple syrup (or honey), almond milk, vanilla extract, and a pinch of sea salt to the blender.
  3. Blend the mixture on high speed until you achieve a smooth and creamy consistency, scraping down the sides as needed. This should take about 2-3 minutes.
  4. Taste the mousse and adjust sweetness if needed by adding more maple syrup or honey. Blend again briefly to mix.
  5. Once the mousse is well combined and smooth, transfer it into small serving cups or bowls.
  6. Chill the mousse in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld and the mousse to firm up slightly.
  7. Before serving, top each cup with whipped coconut cream, fresh berries, or a sprinkle of crushed nuts for added texture and visual appeal.

💡 Chef's Notes

Chill the mousse for better flavor and texture.
