Ingredients

  • 2 whole ripe avocados
  • 0.5 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 0.5 cup pure maple syrup or honey
  • 0.25 cup almond milk or any milk of your choice
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • a pinch sea salt
  • 0.25 cup dark chocolate chips
  • to garnish fresh berries and mint leaves

Instructions

  1. Begin by cutting the ripe avocados in half, removing the pits, and scooping the flesh into a food processor.
  2. Add the unsweetened cocoa powder, maple syrup, almond milk, vanilla extract, and a pinch of sea salt to the food processor.
  3. Blend the mixture on high speed until smooth and creamy, scraping down the sides as necessary to ensure everything is well combined.
  4. In a small microwave-safe bowl, melt the dark chocolate chips in 20-second intervals, stirring after each interval until smooth. Allow it to cool slightly.
  5. With the food processor running, slowly drizzle in the melted chocolate until fully incorporated. Blend for an additional 30 seconds for extra creaminess.
  6. Taste the mousse and adjust sweetness as desired by adding more maple syrup if needed.
  7. Once the mixture is fully blended and creamy, spoon the mousse into serving dishes or bowls.
  8. Refrigerate the mousse for at least 30 minutes to firm up before serving.
