Ingredients

  • 4 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 4 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 3 tablespoons milk (or a non-dairy alternative)
  • 2 tablespoons peanut butter
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon chocolate chips (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a microwave-safe mug (roughly 12 oz), combine the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt. Mix well to ensure no lumps remain.
  2. Add the milk, peanut butter, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients. Stir vigorously with a fork until the mixture is smooth and creamy.
  3. If using, fold in the chocolate chips for an extra chocolatey flavor.
  4. Microwave the mug on high for about 1 minute and 30 seconds. Check for doneness; the cake should rise and be set in the middle. If needed, add additional time in 10-second intervals.
  5. Once done, let it cool for a couple of minutes before indulging to avoid burning your mouth.
  6. For an extra flourish, top with a dollop of peanut butter and a sprinkle of chocolate chips before serving.
