Ingredients

  • 6 small flour tortillas
  • 0.5 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 0.25 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • a pinch salt
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper for easy cleanup.
  2. In a small bowl, mix together the granulated sugar, ground cinnamon, and a pinch of salt. If you opt for extra flavor, stir in the vanilla extract.
  3. Using a pastry brush, generously brush one side of each tortilla with the melted butter.
  4. Sprinkle the cinnamon sugar mixture evenly over the buttered side of the tortillas. Ensure they're well-coated for optimal sweetness.
  5. Stack the tortillas and use a sharp knife or a pizza cutter to slice them into wedges (eighths or sixths, depending on your preference).
  6. Place the tortilla wedges in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet, ensuring they aren’t overlapping.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for about 10-12 minutes, or until the chips are crispy and lightly golden brown, flipping them halfway through the baking time for even crisping.
  8. Once baked, remove from the oven and let the chips cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes, allowing them to crisp up further.
  9. Enjoy your cinnamon sugar tortilla chips as is or serve them with your favorite dipping sauces like chocolate sauce, caramel, or fruit salsa!

💡 Chef's Notes

Serve the chips in a colorful bowl or platter, and sprinkle a bit of extra cinnamon sugar on top for added flair. Consider adding a small dish of dip on the side for a fun snack experience!
