Classic French Toast with Berries Delightful Recipe
Ingredients
- 4 slices thick brioche bread
- 2 large eggs
- 0.5 cup whole milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 pinch salt
- 1 cup mixed berries (strawberries, blueberries, raspberries)
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 serving Maple syrup for serving
- 1 serving Powdered sugar for dusting (optional)
Instructions
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, whole milk, vanilla extract, ground cinnamon, sugar, and a pinch of salt until fully combined and frothy.
- Preheat a non-stick skillet or griddle over medium heat and add 1 tablespoon of butter, swirling to coat the surface.
- Dip each slice of brioche bread into the egg mixture, ensuring both sides are generously coated. Allow excess batter to drip off.
- Place the coated bread slices on the skillet, cooking for about 3-4 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and the center is set. Add more butter if necessary for cooking additional slices.
- While the toast cooks, prepare the mixed berries. You can leave them fresh or lightly macerate by sprinkling with a little sugar and letting them sit for 10 minutes to release their juices.
- Once the French toast is cooked to perfection, transfer it to plates and top it with the mixed berries.
- Drizzle maple syrup over the top and dust with powdered sugar if desired.
💡 Chef's Notes
Stack the French toast in a staggered manner for a beautiful display, and place the berries artistically on top, garnished with a mint leaf for a pop of color. Serve with an extra drizzle of syrup on the side.
