Easy Chicken Souvlaki Flavorful and Simple Dish
Ingredients
- 1 pound chicken breast, cut into 1-inch cubes
- 3 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- to taste salt and pepper
- 4 skewers if wooden, soaked in water for 30 minutes
- pita bread, for serving
- tzatziki sauce, for dipping
- fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine the olive oil, lemon juice, minced garlic, oregano, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper to create the marinade.
- Add the chicken cubes to the marinade bowl, ensuring each piece is well coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, or up to 2 hours for deeper flavor.
- Preheat your grill or grill pan over medium-high heat. If using wooden skewers, make sure they've soaked in water for 30 minutes to prevent burning.
- Thread the marinated chicken cubes onto the skewers, leaving a little space between each piece for even cooking.
- Grill the skewers for about 10-12 minutes, turning occasionally, until the chicken is cooked through and has nice grill marks. The internal temperature should reach 165°F (75°C).
- Once cooked, remove the skewers from the grill and let them rest for a minute.
- Serve the chicken souvlaki with warm pita bread and a generous dollop of tzatziki sauce. Garnish with freshly chopped parsley for added color.
💡 Chef's Notes
For best flavor, marinate the chicken for up to 2 hours.
