Homemade Meatball Subs Flavorful and Easy Recipe
Ingredients
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 2 ground pork
- 1 cup breadcrumbs
- 1 2 grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 4 fresh parsley, chopped
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 large egg
- to taste salt and pepper
- 2 cups marinara sauce
- 4 pieces sub rolls
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- optional fresh basil leaves for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, ground pork, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, parsley, garlic powder, onion powder, egg, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined.
- Take about 2 tablespoons of the mixture and roll it into a ball. Repeat until all the mixture is used, placing the meatballs on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Bake the meatballs in the preheated oven for about 20-25 minutes or until they are cooked through and browned.
- While the meatballs are baking, heat the marinara sauce in a saucepan over medium heat. Once warm, add the baked meatballs to the sauce, letting them simmer for about 5-10 minutes to absorb the flavors.
- Cut the sub rolls down the center but not all the way through, creating a pocket. Brush the inside with olive oil and toast them in the oven for about 5 minutes until slightly crispy.
- Fill each toasted sub roll with several meatballs and top with marinara sauce. Sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese generously over the top.
- Return the subs to the oven for an additional 5-7 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Remove from the oven and garnish with fresh basil leaves if desired. Serve hot and enjoy!
