Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef or turkey
  • 0.5 cup breadcrumbs
  • 0.25 cup finely chopped onion
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper
  • 0.5 cup honey
  • 0.25 cup soy sauce or tamari
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch mixed with 1 tablespoon water
  • to taste sesame seeds for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef or turkey, breadcrumbs, chopped onion, minced garlic, egg, parsley, salt, and pepper. Mix it with your hands until everything is well incorporated.
  2. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  3. Shape the mixture into small meatballs (about 1 inch in diameter) and place them on a lined baking sheet.
  4. Bake the meatballs in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until they are cooked through and browned on the outside.
  5. While the meatballs are baking, prepare the honey garlic sauce. In a saucepan over medium heat, combine honey, soy sauce, and rice vinegar. Stir to combine.
  6. Bring the sauce to a slight simmer, then whisk in the cornstarch and water mixture. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes or until the sauce has thickened to your desired consistency.
  7. Once the meatballs are ready, remove them from the oven and transfer them to the saucepan with the honey garlic sauce. Gently toss to coat the meatballs in the sauce.
  8. Serve the meatballs warm, garnished with sesame seeds and extra parsley if desired.
