Irresistible Dr. Pepper Ice Cream Easy and Fun Treat
Ingredients
- 2 cups heavy cream
- 1 cup whole milk
- 1 cup Dr. Pepper
- 3.75 cups granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 0.5 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 0 optional chocolate chips or crushed nuts for mix-ins
Instructions
- In a medium saucepan, combine the heavy cream, whole milk, Dr. Pepper, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, and salt. Stir to mix well.
- In a small bowl, whisk the cornstarch with a couple of tablespoons of the cream mixture until smooth. This will help thicken the mixture.
- Place the saucepan over medium heat and bring the mixture to a gentle simmer, stirring occasionally until the sugar dissolves completely.
- Once simmering, add the cornstarch mixture to the saucepan and continue stirring for about 2-3 minutes until the mixture thickens slightly.
- Remove the saucepan from the heat and let the mixture cool to room temperature.
- Once cooled, cover the mixture and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or until it's fully chilled.
- Pour the chilled mixture into an ice cream maker and churn according to the manufacturer's instructions, usually about 20-25 minutes. If desired, add chocolate chips or crushed nuts in the last couple of minutes of churning.
- Transfer the churned ice cream to an airtight container and freeze for at least 4 hours, or until firm.
- Scoop and serve the Dr. Pepper ice cream in bowls or cones, and enjoy the fizzy flavor!
💡 Chef's Notes
