Ingredients

  • 2 whole ripe mangoes, diced
  • 2 whole ripe avocados, diced
  • 1 small red onion, finely chopped
  • 1 whole red bell pepper, diced
  • 1 whole jalapeño, deseeded and minced
  • 2 whole limes, juiced
  • 0.25 cup fresh cilantro, chopped
  • to taste salt and pepper
  • 1 teaspoon honey or agave syrup (optional)

Instructions

  1. Start by preparing the ingredients: dice the mangoes and avocados into small, even pieces to ensure a good mix.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the diced mangoes and avocados.
  3. Add the finely chopped red onion, diced red bell pepper, and minced jalapeño to the bowl.
  4. Squeeze the juice of 2 limes over the mixture. This not only adds flavor but also prevents the avocados from browning.
  5. Gently toss the ingredients together with a rubber spatula or wooden spoon, being careful not to mash the avocados.
  6. Add the fresh cilantro and season with salt and pepper to taste. If you prefer a touch of sweetness, drizzle in the honey or agave syrup and mix again.
  7. Allow the salsa to sit for at least 15 minutes at room temperature to let the flavors meld, or refrigerate if making ahead for a party.

💡 Chef's Notes

Serve in a colorful bowl, garnished with extra cilantro leaves. Pairs well with tortilla chips or grilled fish.
