Ingredients

  • 24 oz cheese-filled ravioli (fresh or frozen)
  • 2 cups marinara sauce
  • 1 cup ricotta cheese
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 2 cups grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
  • to taste fresh basil leaves for garnish
  • as needed cooking spray

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly spray a 9x13 inch casserole dish with cooking spray.
  2. If using frozen ravioli, cook them according to package instructions until al dente, then drain. If using fresh ravioli, you can skip this step.
  3. In a medium bowl, mix the ricotta cheese with Italian seasoning, garlic powder, and red pepper flakes (if using) until well combined.
  4. Spread a thin layer of marinara sauce on the bottom of the casserole dish to prevent sticking.
  5. Layer half of the cooked ravioli over the marinara sauce, then spoon half of the ricotta mixture over the ravioli.
  6. Add another layer with half of the remaining marinara sauce and sprinkle in half of the mozzarella and Parmesan cheese.
  7. Repeat the layering process with the remaining ingredients: ravioli, ricotta mixture, marinara sauce, and cheeses, ensuring the top layer is cheese.
  8. Cover the casserole dish tightly with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes.
  9. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until the cheese on top is bubbly and golden brown.
  10. Allow the casserole to rest for 5-10 minutes before serving, then garnish with fresh basil leaves.

💡 Chef's Notes

Allow the casserole to rest before serving for better slicing.
