Ingredients

  • 8 slices thick bread (like brioche or challah)
  • 1 cup Nutella
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons sugar (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon Butter or oil for frying
  • 1 cup Powdered sugar for dusting
  • as needed Fresh strawberries or bananas for serving

Instructions

  1. Start by preparing the Nutella stuffed sandwiches. Take a slice of bread, spread about 2 tablespoons of Nutella on one side, and top it with another slice of bread to create a sandwich. Repeat this for all 4 sandwiches.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the eggs, whole milk, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and sugar until well combined.
  3. Heat a non-stick skillet or griddle over medium heat and add a bit of butter or oil to coat the surface.
  4. Dip each sandwich into the egg mixture, ensuring both sides are fully coated but not overly soaked.
  5. Place the sandwiches in the hot skillet and cook for about 3-4 minutes on each side or until golden brown and crispy. Make sure to check the heat to avoid burning.
  6. Once cooked, remove from skillet and set on a plate.
  7. Dust the top with powdered sugar before serving.
  8. Slice the stuffed French toast in half to reveal the melted Nutella inside, and serve with fresh strawberries or bananas on the side.
