Oven-Baked Chicken Parmesan Easy and Flavorful Meal
Ingredients
- 4 pieces boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- 1 cup breadcrumbs (preferably Italian seasoned)
- 1 2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 cup marinara sauce (homemade or store-bought)
- 1.5 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 2 large eggs
- 0.25 cup flour
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- to taste salt and pepper
- for garnish fresh basil leaves
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Pat the chicken breasts dry with paper towels. Season both sides with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and oregano.
- In three separate dishes, set up your breading stations – one with flour, another with beaten eggs, and the third with a mixture of breadcrumbs and grated Parmesan cheese.
- Dredge each chicken breast in flour, shaking off any excess.
- Dip them into the beaten eggs, ensuring they are fully coated.
- Press each chicken breast firmly into the breadcrumb mixture, ensuring an even coating on both sides.
- Place the breaded chicken breasts on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through and the coating is golden brown.
- Remove the chicken from the oven and spoon a generous amount of marinara sauce over each breast. Top with shredded mozzarella cheese.
- Return the chicken to the oven and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Once done, let the chicken rest for a few minutes. Garnish with fresh basil leaves before serving.
