Paula Deen Breakfast Casserole Tasty and Hearty Dish
Ingredients
- 1 pound breakfast sausage, crumbled
- 5 large eggs
- 2 cups milk
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 0.5 teaspoon black pepper
- 6 slices day-old bread, cubed
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 0.5 cup chopped green onions
- 0.5 cup bell peppers, diced
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish with cooking spray or butter.
- In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the crumbled breakfast sausage until browned and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes. Drain excess fat and set aside.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder until well combined.
- Add the cubed bread to the egg mixture, stirring gently to coat. Let it sit for about 10 minutes so the bread absorbs the liquid.
- Fold in the cooked sausage, shredded cheddar cheese, chopped green onions, and diced bell peppers.
- Pour the mixture into the prepared baking dish, spreading it evenly.
- Bake for 35-40 minutes or until the casserole is golden brown and a knife inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Remove from the oven and let it cool for about 5-10 minutes before slicing.
💡 Chef's Notes
