Ingredients

  • 1 lb fresh asparagus, trimmed
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 lemon zest of
  • 1 lemon juice of
  • to taste salt and pepper
  • 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional for a kick)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. Rinse the asparagus under cold water and trim the tough ends. Place them on a baking sheet.
  3. In a small bowl, whisk together the olive oil, minced garlic, lemon zest, lemon juice, salt, and pepper.
  4. Pour the lemon-garlic mixture over the asparagus, ensuring they are well-coated. Toss lightly to distribute evenly.
  5. If you prefer some heat, sprinkle the red pepper flakes over the asparagus.
  6. Spread the asparagus in a single layer on the baking sheet.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until the asparagus is tender and slightly crispy.
  8. If using, remove from the oven and sprinkle grated Parmesan cheese over the top. Return to the oven for an additional 2 minutes to melt the cheese.
  9. Carefully remove from the oven and transfer to a serving platter.

💡 Chef's Notes

Arrange the roasted asparagus in a fan shape on a white platter for an elegant look. Drizzle any leftover lemon-garlic sauce from the baking sheet over the top for added flavor and visual appeal. Garnish with lemon wedges and a sprinkle of additional red pepper flakes for color.
