Ingredients
- 4 pieces smoked sausages, sliced
- 4 medium potatoes, thinly sliced
- 1 medium onion, diced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup cream or whole milk
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme
- to taste salt and pepper
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- for garnish fresh parsley, chopped
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
- In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the diced onion and minced garlic. Sauté for about 3-4 minutes until the onion is translucent.
- Add the sliced smoked sausages to the skillet and cook for another 5-7 minutes, until they are golden and slightly crispy. Stir in the smoked paprika and dried thyme. Remove from heat.
- In a greased 9x13 inch baking dish, layer half of the sliced potatoes at the bottom. Season with salt and pepper.
- Next, layer the sausage mixture over the potatoes evenly.
- Top with the remaining potato slices, adding another light seasoning of salt and pepper.
- Pour the cream or milk evenly over the entire dish, ensuring everything is covered.
- Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese generously on top.
- Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes.
- After 30 minutes, remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, or until the potatoes are fork-tender and the cheese is bubbly and golden.
- Once baked, let it rest for about 10 minutes before serving. Drizzle with fresh parsley on top for a pop of color.
💡 Chef's Notes
Serve the bake directly from the dish with a sprinkle of fresh parsley on top for color. Pair it with a side salad for a complete meal!
