Ingredients

  • 2 cups apple cider
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 2 unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 2 baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 2 ground nutmeg
  • 1 4 ground ginger
  • 1 4 salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 2 powdered sugar (for dusting)

Instructions

  1. In a saucepan, heat the apple cider over medium heat until it reduces to 1 cup (about 15-20 minutes). Let it cool slightly.
  2. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a donut pan.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, and salt.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together the melted butter, reduced apple cider, eggs, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  5. Combine the wet ingredients with the dry ingredients and mix just until combined. Be careful not to overmix.
  6. Spoon the batter into the donut pan, filling each cavity about two-thirds full.
  7. Bake the donuts in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  8. Allow the donuts to cool in the pan for 5 minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.
  9. Once cooled, dust the donuts with powdered sugar before serving.

💡 Chef's Notes
