Ingredients

  • 1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon lime zest
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lime juice
  • to taste salt and pepper
  • 8 small corn or flour tortillas
  • 1 cup red cabbage, shredded
  • 1 avocado, sliced
  • fresh cilantro, for garnish
  • lime wedges, for serving

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, combine the shrimp, minced garlic, smoked paprika, cayenne pepper, olive oil, lime zest, lime juice, salt, and pepper. Mix well to ensure the shrimp are evenly coated. Let marinate for about 15 minutes.
  2. While the shrimp marinate, prepare your toppings. Thinly slice the avocado and shred the red cabbage. Set aside.
  3. Heat a non-stick skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the marinated shrimp in a single layer. Cook for 2-3 minutes on one side until pink, then flip and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until fully cooked through.
  4. In the meantime, warm the tortillas in a separate skillet until soft and pliable or microwave them for about 20 seconds.
  5. To assemble the tacos, place a few shrimp on each tortilla, top with shredded cabbage, and avocado slices. Garnish with fresh cilantro.
  6. Serve with lime wedges on the side for an extra burst of flavor. Enjoy your spicy garlic shrimp tacos!
