Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 0.5 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 0.25 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 cup mini chocolate chips (optional)
  • to taste sprinkles for topping (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, cream the softened butter and powdered sugar together using an electric mixer on medium speed until the mixture is light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
  3. Add the vanilla extract to the butter mixture and mix until incorporated.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, mixing on low speed until just combined.
  5. If using, fold in the mini chocolate chips to the dough for extra flavor and texture.
  6. Using a cookie scoop or tablespoon, portion out the dough and shape it into small balls.
  7. Place the dough balls on the prepared baking sheet, about 2 inches apart. Gently press the center of each ball with a fork to slightly flatten them, leaving a small indent.
  8. If desired, sprinkle some colorful sprinkles on top of each cookie before baking.
  9. Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden, but the centers remain soft.
  10. Remove from the oven and allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

💡 Chef's Notes

Arrange the cooled cookies on a decorative plate and dust lightly with powdered sugar for a festive touch. You can also present them in an elegant cookie jar for gifting!
