The key ingredients for bacon mushroom swiss cheese meatloaf create a rich and savory dish. First, let's talk about the meat and dairy products used. I use one pound of ground beef as the base. It gives the meatloaf its classic flavor and texture. For dairy, I add one cup of shredded Swiss cheese. This cheese melts nicely and adds a creamy taste that complements the beef.

Ingredients

1 pound ground beef

1 cup finely chopped mushrooms

1 cup shredded Swiss cheese

1/2 cup crispy bacon, chopped

1 small onion, finely chopped

2 cloves garlic, minced

1/2 cup breadcrumbs

1/4 cup ketchup

1 large egg

1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

1 teaspoon dried thyme

Salt and pepper to taste

Additional bacon strips for topping, optional

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a loaf pan or line it with parchment paper for easier removal.

In a large skillet, sauté the chopped onion and garlic over medium heat until translucent, about 3-4 minutes. Add the finely chopped mushrooms and cook until they are soft and any moisture has evaporated, roughly 5 more minutes. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.

In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, sautéed mushroom mixture, shredded Swiss cheese, crispy bacon, breadcrumbs, ketchup, egg, Worcestershire sauce, dried thyme, salt, and pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are evenly incorporated, but do not overmix.

Shape the meat mixture into a loaf and place it in the prepared loaf pan. If desired, you can create a slight indentation on top of the loaf and place additional bacon strips over it to enhance flavor and presentation.

Bake the meatloaf in the preheated oven for 50-60 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C). Let it rest for about 10 minutes before slicing to ensure it remains juicy.

Serve warm, garnished with fresh parsley if desired.
