Ingredients

6 good-quality pork sausages

4 large russet potatoes, peeled and diced

1/2 cup whole milk

4 tablespoons unsalted butter

1 large onion, thinly sliced

2 tablespoons all-purpose flour

2 cups beef broth (low-sodium)

1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce

Salt and pepper to taste

Fresh thyme leaves for garnish (optional)

Instructions

Cook the Sausages: In a large skillet, heat a little oil over medium heat. Add the sausages and cook, turning occasionally, until browned and cooked through (about 15-20 minutes). Remove from the skillet and keep warm.

Prepare the Potatoes: In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil. Add the diced potatoes and cook until tender (about 15 minutes). Drain the potatoes and return them to the pot.

Make the Mashed Potatoes: Add the whole milk and butter to the drained potatoes. Mash until smooth and creamy. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Cover to keep warm.

Prepare the Onion Gravy: In the same skillet where the sausages were cooked, add the sliced onions. Sauté over medium heat until golden brown and caramelized (about 10 minutes).

Thicken the Gravy: Sprinkle the flour over the cooked onions, stirring constantly for about 1 minute to combine. Gradually add the beef broth and Worcestershire sauce, stirring continuously to avoid lumps. Cook until the gravy thickens (about 5-7 minutes). Season with salt and pepper to taste.

Serve the Dish: On each plate, spoon a generous portion of mashed potatoes, top with the sausages, and drizzle with onion gravy.
