Ingredients

1 box vanilla cake mix

1/2 cup sour cream

1/2 cup milk

2 large eggs

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1/4 cup melted butter

1/2 teaspoon baking powder

1/2 teaspoon cinnamon (optional)

Pinch of salt

Cooking spray (for greasing the donut pan)

Optional toppings: Glaze (powdered sugar + milk), sprinkles, or cinnamon sugar

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a donut pan with cooking spray to prevent sticking.

In a large mixing bowl, combine the cake mix, baking powder, cinnamon, and pinch of salt; mix well.

In another bowl, whisk together the eggs, sour cream, milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract until smooth.

Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients and gently stir until just combined. Be careful not to overmix; a few lumps are okay.

Transfer the batter into a piping bag or a zip-top bag with a corner snipped off. This will help you fill the donut pan more easily.

Pipe the batter into each cavity of the donut pan, filling them about 2/3 full to allow room for rising.

Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the donuts are golden and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Allow the donuts to cool in the pan for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

While the donuts cool, prepare your desired toppings. For a simple glaze, mix powdered sugar with a little milk until smooth, then drizzle over the cooled donuts. Alternatively, for cinnamon sugar, mix equal parts sugar and cinnamon, then roll the still-warm donuts in it.

Serve the donuts fresh for the best flavor, and enjoy!
