Ingredients

2 cups all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon baking powder

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened

1/2 cup granulated sugar

1 large egg

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

3 medium-sized apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp), peeled, cored, and diced

1 teaspoon cinnamon

1/4 teaspoon nutmeg

1/2 cup caramel sauce (store-bought or homemade)

1 egg (for egg wash)

Optional: powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.

In a separate bowl, cream the softened butter and granulated sugar together until light and fluffy.

Add the egg and vanilla extract to the butter mixture, beating until well combined.

Gradually incorporate the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients, mixing until a dough forms.

In a skillet, sauté the diced apples over medium heat with a tablespoon of butter, cinnamon, and nutmeg for about 5 minutes, or until slightly softened. Remove from heat.

Take a small piece of dough (about the size of a golf ball) and flatten it in your palm. Place a spoonful of the sautéed apples in the center along with a drizzle of caramel sauce.

Fold the dough over the filling and pinch the edges to seal completely, shaping it into a ball. Repeat for the remaining dough and filling.

Place the bombs on the prepared baking sheet and brush the tops with the egg wash (beaten egg).

Bake in the preheated oven for 15–20 minutes, or until golden brown.

Once out of the oven, allow the bombs to cool slightly, then drizzle more caramel sauce over the top.

Optionally, dust with powdered sugar for a sweeter touch before serving.
