1 cup caramel sauce (store-bought or homemade)

1 cup all-purpose flour

½ cup granulated sugar

½ cup brown sugar

2 large eggs

½ cup whole milk

⅓ cup unsalted butter, melted

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 teaspoon baking powder

½ teaspoon baking soda

¼ teaspoon salt

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a muffin tin with paper liners or grease each muffin cup.

    In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, brown sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt until combined.

      In another bowl, beat the eggs, and then add the melted butter, whole milk, and vanilla extract. Mix until the wet ingredients are well combined.

        Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Be careful not to overmix; it's okay if there are a few lumps.

          Add a tablespoon of caramel sauce to each muffin cup, then spoon the batter over the caramel until each cup is about three-quarters full.

            Bake in the preheated oven for 18-20 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

              Allow the muffins to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack. Let them cool completely.

                Once cooled, drizzle extra caramel sauce on top and add a dollop of whipped cream if desired.
