Ingredients

1 lb (450g) ground beef or turkey

1 small onion, finely chopped

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 bell pepper, diced (any color)

1 cup ketchup

2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce

1 teaspoon smoked paprika

Salt and pepper to taste

4 large garlic bread rolls or sub rolls

1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

Prepare the base: In a large skillet, heat a splash of oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and bell pepper, cooking until softened, about 5 minutes. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for an additional minute until fragrant.

Brown the meat: Add the ground beef or turkey to the skillet. Cook, stirring occasionally, until browned and fully cooked. Drain excess fat if necessary.

Create the sauce: Stir in the ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Simmer for about 5-7 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly.

Prepare the garlic bread: While the meat mixture simmers, preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Cut the garlic rolls in half and place them on a baking sheet, cut side up.

Add cheese: Spoon the sloppy joe mixture generously over each garlic roll. Top with shredded mozzarella and a sprinkle of Parmesan.

Bake: Place the baking sheet in the oven and bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly, and the bread is golden.

Garnish and serve: Remove from the oven and let cool slightly. Garnish with freshly chopped parsley before serving.
