Ingredients

1 box chocolate cake mix

1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

1 cup brown sugar, packed

1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted

2 cups milk

1 cup caramel sauce (store-bought or homemade)

1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional)

Whipped cream for serving

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13-inch baking dish with non-stick cooking spray or butter.

In a mixing bowl, combine the chocolate cake mix, cocoa powder, brown sugar, and chopped nuts (if using). Mix until well combined.

Pour the dry mixture into the prepared baking dish, spreading it evenly across the bottom.

In a separate bowl, whisk together the melted butter and milk until combined. Pour this mixture evenly over the chocolate mixture in the baking dish. Do not stir; the mixture will rise during baking.

Drizzle the caramel sauce evenly over the top of the cake batter. Again, do not stir; let the ingredients mix naturally while baking.

Sprinkle the semi-sweet chocolate chips over the top. This will create a delicious, gooey chocolate layer once baked.

Bake in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes, or until the top is set and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out mostly clean with a few moist crumbs.

Remove from the oven and allow to cool for about 10-15 minutes. The cake will continue to set as it cools and will have a lava-like texture in the center.

Serve warm with a dollop of whipped cream on top for an extra touch of indulgence.

                    Prep Time: 15 minutes | Total Time: 1 hour | Servings: 12

                      - Presentation Tips: Serve each slice warm in a dessert dish and drizzle additional caramel sauce over the top with a sprinkle of chocolate chips for an eye-catching finish. Enjoy!
