Ingredients

3-4 lbs pork shoulder or butt

1 cup diced onions

3 cloves garlic, minced

1/2 cup apple cider vinegar

1/4 cup brown sugar

1/4 cup honey

2 tablespoons chili powder

1 tablespoon smoked paprika

1 tablespoon ground cumin

1 teaspoon black pepper

1 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper (adjust for heat preference)

1 cup chicken broth

8-10 slider buns or rolls

Coleslaw (for serving, optional)

Instructions

Begin by trimming excess fat from the pork shoulder and cutting it into large chunks for better flavor absorption.

In a bowl, mix together the apple cider vinegar, brown sugar, honey, chili powder, smoked paprika, ground cumin, black pepper, salt, and cayenne pepper to create a marinade.

Rub the marinade all over the pork chunks, ensuring they are well coated. Allow it to marinate for at least 30 minutes or refrigerate overnight for deeper flavor.

Place the diced onions and minced garlic at the bottom of the crockpot. These will serve as a flavorful base for the pork.

Place the marinated pork shoulder pieces on top of the onions and garlic in the crockpot.

Pour the chicken broth around the pork, ensuring not to wash away the marinade on the meat.

Cover the crockpot and cook on low for 8-10 hours or on high for 4-6 hours, until the pork is tender and easily shredded with a fork.

Once cooked, remove the meat from the crockpot and shred it using two forks. Return the shredded pork to the crockpot and stir to combine with the juices.

Serve the pulled pork on slider buns topped with coleslaw if desired. Ensure to spoon some of the juices over the pork for extra moisture.

                    Prep Time: 30 mins | Total Time: 10 hours | Servings: 8-10
