Ingredients

2 cups all-purpose flour

1 cup warm water (about 110°F)

1 teaspoon sugar

1 packet (2 1/4 teaspoons) instant yeast

1 teaspoon salt

2 tablespoons olive oil (plus more for drizzling)

4 cloves garlic, minced

1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped

1 teaspoon dried oregano

Pinch of red pepper flakes (optional)

Instructions

In a large mixing bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and instant yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.

Add the flour, salt, and 2 tablespoons of olive oil to the yeast mixture.

Mix until a dough forms, then knead on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.

Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.

Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).

Once the dough has risen, punch it down and transfer it to a lightly greased baking sheet.

Press the dough out into a rectangle about 1/2 inch thick.

In a small bowl, combine minced garlic, parsley, oregano, and a couple of tablespoons of olive oil. Brush this mixture generously over the dough.

Use your fingers to create dimples all over the surface of the dough, pushing down gently.

Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella and grated Parmesan evenly over the top of the dough.

If desired, add a pinch of red pepper flakes for heat.

Allow the dough to rest for an additional 15 minutes while the oven finishes preheating.

Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown and the cheese is bubbly.

Remove from the oven and drizzle with a bit more olive oil, then let it cool slightly before slicing.

Prep Time: 15 minutes | Total Time: 1 hour 40 minutes | Servings: 8 slices
