Ingredients

8 oz cream cheese, softened

1/2 cup powdered sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 cup fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced

4 slices of thick bread (e.g., brioche or challah)

1 large egg

1 cup milk

1 cup all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon cinnamon

1/2 teaspoon nutmeg

1 cup breadcrumbs (for extra crunch)

Vegetable oil (for frying)

Whipped cream (for serving, optional)

Extra strawberries for garnish (optional)

Instructions

In a mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract. Beat until smooth and creamy.

Gently fold in the sliced strawberries into the cream cheese mixture. This will be the filling for the sandwiches.

Take two slices of bread and spread a generous amount of the strawberry cheesecake filling on one slice of each pair. Top with the matching slices to create sandwiches.

In a shallow dish, whisk together the egg and milk to create an egg wash. In another shallow dish, combine the flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, and a pinch of salt. Place breadcrumbs in a separate dish.

Heat about 1 inch of vegetable oil in a deep skillet over medium heat until hot (around 350°F/175°C).

Take each sandwich and dip it first into the flour mixture, then into the egg wash, followed by the breadcrumbs to coat evenly.

Carefully place the coated sandwiches into the hot oil, frying for about 2-3 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and crispy.

Once fried, remove the sandwiches and let them drain on paper towels to absorb excess oil.

Slice the sandwiches in half diagonally for a better presentation and serve warm. Drizzle with whipped cream and garnish with additional strawberries, if desired.

                    Prep Time: 20 min | Total Time: 30 min | Servings: 2

                      - Presentation Tips: Arrange the fried sandwiches on a plate, dust with additional powdered sugar, and serve with a side of whipped cream for dipping. A sprig of mint can add a touch of color and elegance.
