Ingredients

500g ground beef

250g ground pork

1 medium onion, finely chopped

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 slice of stale bread (or 75g breadcrumbs)

1 large egg

2 tablespoons whole milk

1 tablespoon mustard

1 teaspoon dried thyme

1 teaspoon paprika

Salt and pepper to taste

2 tablespoons olive oil (for frying)

Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

Soak the Bread: If using stale bread, soak it in milk for about 10 minutes. If using breadcrumbs, just set them aside.

Mix the Meats: In a large bowl, combine the ground beef and pork. Add the finely chopped onion, minced garlic, soaked bread (squeezed out), or breadcrumbs, egg, mustard, thyme, paprika, salt, and pepper.

Combine Ingredients: Using your hands, mix everything until just combined. Be careful not to overmix, as this can make the frikadellen tough.

Shape the Patties: Form the mixture into patties about 1.5 inches thick, ensuring they are well compacted to hold together during cooking. You should get around 8 patties.

Fry the Patties: Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Once hot, add the patties (in batches if necessary to avoid overcrowding) and fry for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until they are golden brown and cooked through.

Serve: Remove the patties from the skillet and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.

Garnish: Sprinkle with chopped fresh parsley before serving.

                Prep Time: 15 minutes | Total Time: 30 minutes | Servings: 4

                  - Presentation Tips: Serve the frikadellen on a platter with sides of mustard and fresh bread. Add a salad on the side for a complete meal experience.
