Ingredients

2 cups all-purpose flour

1 tablespoon baking powder

1 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

1/4 teaspoon garlic powder

1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese

1 cup diced ham

3/4 cup whole milk

1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted

Fresh chives, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 450°F (232°C). Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish with butter or non-stick spray.

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder until well combined.

Add the shredded cheddar cheese and diced ham to the dry ingredients, and mix until the cheese and ham are evenly distributed throughout the flour mixture.

Pour in the whole milk, and gently stir until just combined. Be careful not to overmix; a few lumps are okay.

In a separate small bowl, melt the unsalted butter. Pour about half of the melted butter into the bottom of the prepared baking dish, spreading it evenly.

Spoon the biscuit mixture into the baking dish over the melted butter, making sure to distribute it evenly.

Drizzle the remaining melted butter over the top of the biscuit dough.

Bake in the preheated oven for about 20-25 minutes, or until the tops are golden brown and the biscuits are cooked through.

Once done, remove from the oven and allow to cool for a few minutes before slicing into squares.

Serve warm, garnished with fresh chopped chives for a pop of color and flavor.
