Ingredients

2 cups all-purpose flour

1 tablespoon baking powder

1 teaspoon salt

¾ teaspoon garlic powder

½ teaspoon black pepper

½ cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese

½ cup diced cooked ham

¾ cup buttermilk

½ cup unsalted butter, melted

Optional: Fresh chives or parsley for garnish

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) and lightly grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.

In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, baking powder, salt, garlic powder, and black pepper. Whisk until well mixed.

Stir in the shredded cheddar cheese and diced ham into the flour mixture until evenly distributed.

Gradually pour in the buttermilk, mixing with a fork until just combined. Avoid overmixing; the dough should be slightly sticky.

In a separate bowl, melt the butter and let it cool slightly. Pour half of the melted butter into the prepared baking dish.

Spoon the biscuit dough into the pan, spreading it out gently to cover the melted butter. Drizzle the remaining melted butter over the top of the dough.

Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the biscuits are golden brown and cooked through.

Remove from the oven and let cool for 5 minutes before cutting into squares.

Garnish with fresh chives or parsley, if desired, for added color and flavor.
