Ingredients

2 cups all-purpose flour

1 tablespoon baking powder

1 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

1 cup diced ham (preferably honey-baked for sweetness)

1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese

1 cup buttermilk (or substitute with milk and a splash of lemon juice)

1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 450°F (232°C) and grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and black pepper until well combined.

Add the diced ham and shredded cheddar cheese to the dry ingredients, stirring gently to combine and coat the ham and cheese with the flour mixture.

Pour in the buttermilk and melted butter, mixing just until combined. Be careful not to overmix; it should be a bit lumpy.

Pour the biscuit batter into the prepared baking dish, spreading it evenly.

Bake for 15-20 minutes or until the top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Once done, remove from the oven and let it cool slightly before serving.

                Prep Time: 10 minutes | Total Time: 30 minutes | Servings: 8

                  - Presentation Tips: Cut the biscuits into squares and serve warm directly from the baking dish, garnished with some fresh chopped chives on top for a splash of color and added flavor.
