Ingredients

1 lb ground beef or turkey

1 small onion, finely chopped

2 cloves garlic, minced

1/2 cup ketchup

2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce

1 tablespoon brown sugar

1 teaspoon mustard

Salt and pepper to taste

4 large slices of thick-cut garlic bread

1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

1/2 cup diced tomatoes (optional)

2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

Cook the Meat: In a large skillet, heat a bit of oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, sautéing for about 2-3 minutes until the onion becomes translucent.

Brown the Beef: Add the ground beef or turkey to the skillet. Cook until browned and fully cooked through, breaking it up with a spatula as it cooks, about 5-7 minutes.

Make the Sloppy Joe Sauce: Stir in the ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, mustard, salt, and pepper. Let it simmer for 5-10 minutes, stirring occasionally until thickened.

Prepare the Garlic Bread: While the Sloppy Joe mixture simmers, preheat your oven according to the package instructions for the garlic bread or to 400°F (200°C) if making from scratch.

Assemble the Melts: On a baking sheet, place the slices of garlic bread. Spoon a generous amount of the Sloppy Joe mixture on top of each slice. Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the meat mixture, and add diced tomatoes if using.

Melt the Cheese: Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for 5-7 minutes or until the cheese is bubbly and slightly golden.

Garnish and Serve: Remove the melts from the oven, let them cool slightly, then sprinkle with fresh parsley. Cut in half if desired and serve warm.

                Prep Time: 15 minutes | Total Time: 30 minutes | Servings: 4
