Ingredients

1 lb ground beef

1/2 lb ground pork

1/2 cup breadcrumbs

1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese

1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped

1 large egg

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 tsp salt

1/2 tsp black pepper

1 tsp Italian seasoning

2 cups marinara sauce (store-bought or homemade)

4 sub rolls

1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

Olive oil for cooking

Instructions

Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

Prepare Meatball Mixture: In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, ground pork, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, parsley, egg, minced garlic, salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning. Mix well until all ingredients are evenly incorporated.

Form Meatballs: Roll the mixture into 1.5-inch meatballs and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. You should have about 16 meatballs.

Bake Meatballs: Bake the meatballs in the preheated oven for 25 minutes or until they are cooked through and browned.

Simmer in Sauce: While the meatballs bake, heat the marinara sauce in a large skillet over medium heat. Once the meatballs are done, carefully transfer them to the skillet and let them simmer in the sauce for an additional 10 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.

Assemble Subs: Slice the sub rolls lengthwise and place them on a baking sheet. Spoon some marinara sauce onto the bottom of each roll, followed by 3-4 meatballs per sub. Top with additional marinara and sprinkle shredded mozzarella over the top.

Broil for Melting: Switch your oven setting to broil. Place the assembled subs under the broiler for about 3-5 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden. Keep a close eye to prevent burning!

Serve: Carefully remove the subs from the oven and let them cool slightly. Serve hot with extra marinara sauce on the side for dipping.
