Ingredients

1 cup cooked rice (preferably short grain)

1/2 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded

1/4 cup cream cheese, softened

1/4 cup green onions, finely chopped

1 egg, beaten

1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

1/2 teaspoon onion powder

1/4 teaspoon black pepper

1 cup panko breadcrumbs

Oil for frying (vegetable or canola)

Soy sauce for dipping (optional)

Instructions

Combine the Base: In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked rice, shredded mozzarella cheese, cream cheese, and chopped green onions.

Season the Mixture: Add the beaten egg, garlic powder, onion powder, and black pepper to the bowl and mix until everything is well combined. The mixture should be sticky but manageable.

Form the Balls: Use your hands to form small balls (about 1 to 1.5 inches in diameter) from the mixture. You should be able to make about 12-15 balls.

Coat the Balls: Roll each ball in panko breadcrumbs until fully coated. This will give them a crunchy texture once fried.

Fry the Balls: In a deep saucepan, heat about 2 inches of oil over medium heat. Once hot, carefully add the cheese balls (do not overcrowd the pan) and fry until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes. Flip them halfway through for even cooking.

Drain the Balls: Remove the cheese balls from the oil using a slotted spoon and transfer them to a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil.

Serve: If desired, serve with soy sauce as a dipping option for added flavor.

                Prep Time: 15 minutes | Total Time: 30 minutes | Servings: 4-6

                  - Presentation Tips: Arrange the cheese balls on a serving platter with some sliced jalapeños for a colorful garnish, and bowl of soy sauce in the middle for dipping.
