Ingredients

1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

1/2 cup granulated sugar

1/2 teaspoon baking powder

1/4 teaspoon baking soda

1/4 teaspoon salt

3/4 cup unsalted butter, cold and cut into cubes

1/3 cup cream cheese, cold and cut into cubes

1 large egg

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

1/4 cup powdered sugar (for dusting)

1 egg wash (1 egg beaten with 1 tablespoon water)

Instructions

Prepare the Dough: In a mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt until well combined.

Cut in Butter and Cream Cheese: Add the cold butter and cream cheese to the flour mixture. Use a pastry cutter or your fingers to work the butter and cheese into the flour until you have a coarse, crumbly texture.

Mix Wet Ingredients: In a separate bowl, beat the egg and vanilla extract together. Pour this mixture into the flour mixture and combine until it forms a dough. Be careful not to overwork it.

Add Chocolate Chips: Gently fold in the chocolate chips until evenly distributed throughout the dough.

Chill the Dough: Form the dough into a compact disc, wrap it in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for about 30 minutes to firm up.

Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) while the dough chills.

Roll Out and Shape: On a floured surface, roll out the chilled dough into a large rectangle (about 1/4 inch thick). Use a sharp knife or a pizza cutter to cut the rectangle into triangles.

Create Croissants: Starting at the wide end of each triangle, roll it up tightly towards the point to form a croissant shape. Seal the edges gently.

Egg Wash: Place the formed croissants on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Brush the tops with the egg wash to give them a beautiful golden finish.

Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown and puffed.

Cool and Dust: Let the croissants cool on a wire rack, then dust them lightly with powdered sugar before serving.
