Ingredients

2 teaspoons matcha powder

1 cup milk of choice (dairy, almond, oat, or soy)

2 tablespoons hot water (around 175°F/80°C)

1 tablespoon honey or maple syrup (adjust for sweetness)

½ teaspoon vanilla extract

A pinch of sea salt

Cocoa powder or cinnamon for dusting (optional)

Instructions

In a small bowl, sift the matcha powder to prevent clumping.

Add the hot water to the matcha and whisk vigorously with a bamboo whisk (chasen) or a small regular whisk until frothy and smooth.

In a small saucepan, heat the milk over medium heat until warm, but not boiling. If you want a frothy texture, you can use a milk frother or a French press to froth the milk.

Once the milk is heated, add the honey (or maple syrup), vanilla extract, and a pinch of sea salt. Stir well to combine.

In your serving cup, pour the whisked matcha first, then gently layer the frothed milk over the top to create a beautiful layering effect.

For a decorative touch, dust the top with cocoa powder or cinnamon.

Serve immediately and enjoy your serene cup of matcha cappuccino!
