Ingredients

1 pound breakfast sausage, crumbled

5 large eggs

2 cups milk

1 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

6 slices of day-old bread, cubed

2 cups shredded cheddar cheese

1/2 cup chopped green onions

1/2 cup bell peppers, diced

1 teaspoon garlic powder

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish with cooking spray or butter.

In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the crumbled breakfast sausage until browned and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes. Drain excess fat and set aside.

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder until well combined.

Add the cubed bread to the egg mixture, stirring gently to coat. Let it sit for about 10 minutes so the bread absorbs the liquid.

Fold in the cooked sausage, shredded cheddar cheese, chopped green onions, and diced bell peppers.

Pour the mixture into the prepared baking dish, spreading it evenly.

Bake for 35-40 minutes or until the casserole is golden brown and a knife inserted in the center comes out clean.

Remove from the oven and let it cool for about 5-10 minutes before slicing.

                  Prep Time: 15 min | Total Time: 55 min | Servings: 8

                    - Presentation Tips: Serve warm, garnished with extra chopped green onions and a side of salsa or hot sauce for added flavor.
