Ingredients

1 pound breakfast sausage (mild or spicy, your choice)

1/4 cup all-purpose flour

2 cups whole milk

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon onion powder

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

1/2 teaspoon salt

1 pre-made pie crust (store-bought or homemade)

1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Place your pie crust in a 9-inch pie pan and set aside.

In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the breakfast sausage until browned and fully cooked, breaking it apart with a wooden spoon as it cooks (about 5-7 minutes).

Sprinkle the flour over the cooked sausage and stir to combine, cooking for another minute to get rid of the raw flour taste.

Gradually pour in the milk while stirring continuously to prevent lumps from forming. Add garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, and salt. Cook the mixture for about 5-7 minutes, or until it thickens to a gravy-like consistency. Stir occasionally.

Remove the skillet from heat and stir in half of the shredded cheddar cheese until melted and well combined.

Pour the sausage and gravy mixture into the prepared pie crust. Sprinkle the remaining cheddar cheese on top evenly.

Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is bubbly.

Once baked, remove the pie from the oven and allow it to cool for about 10 minutes before slicing.

Garnish with chopped parsley before serving.
