Ingredients

1 lb beef sirloin, cut into 1-inch cubes

1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined

4 tablespoons unsalted butter

4 cloves garlic, minced

1/4 cup soy sauce

2 tablespoons brown sugar

1 tablespoon sesame oil

1 teaspoon ground ginger

1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes

Salt and pepper to taste

2 green onions, sliced (for garnish)

Cooked rice or quinoa (for serving)

Instructions

Prepare the marinade: In a mixing bowl, combine the soy sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, minced garlic, ground ginger, and crushed red pepper flakes. Mix well to dissolve the sugar.

Marinate the beef and shrimp: Divide the marinade in half. In separate bowls, add the beef cubes to one half and the shrimp to the other. Allow both the steak and shrimp to marinate for at least 30 minutes (or up to 1 hour for extra flavor) in the refrigerator.

Cook the beef: In a large skillet, heat 2 tablespoons of butter over medium-high heat. Remove the steak from the marinade and season lightly with salt and pepper. Add the steak bites to the skillet in a single layer. Sear for about 2-3 minutes on each side until browned and cooked to your desired doneness. Remove the steak and set aside.

Cook the shrimp: In the same skillet, add the remaining 2 tablespoons of butter. Once melted, add the marinated shrimp and cook for 2-3 minutes on each side until they turn pink and opaque.

Combine and glaze: Add the cooked steak back to the skillet with the shrimp. Pour the reserved half of the marinade over the steak and shrimp. Allow it to simmer for an additional 2-3 minutes until slightly thickened, stirring occasionally to coat everything evenly.

Garnish and serve: Remove from heat and sprinkle with sliced green onions for garnish. Serve the savory steak bites and shrimp over cooked rice or quinoa for a hearty meal.
