Ingredients

12 oz ziti pasta

1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined

3 tablespoons olive oil

4 cloves garlic, minced

1 small onion, chopped

1 red bell pepper, diced

1 cup cherry tomatoes, halved

1 teaspoon Italian seasoning

½ teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional)

½ cup heavy cream

1 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Salt and pepper to taste

Fresh basil leaves, for garnish

Instructions

Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook the ziti pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Reserve ½ cup of pasta water, then drain the pasta and set aside.

In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté for about 3 minutes until it becomes translucent.

Add the minced garlic, diced red bell pepper, and cherry tomatoes to the skillet. Cook for 5-7 minutes or until the tomatoes start to soften.

Stir in the shrimp, Italian seasoning, crushed red pepper flakes (if using), and season with salt and pepper. Cook for an additional 4-5 minutes until the shrimp turn pink and opaque.

Reduce the heat to low and add the heavy cream and half of the Parmesan cheese to the skillet. Stir vigorously to combine and create a creamy sauce, adding reserved pasta water as needed for consistency.

Add the cooked ziti to the skillet and toss until the pasta is well coated with the creamy shrimp mixture. If necessary, adjust seasoning with additional salt and pepper.

Serve immediately, garnished with the remaining Parmesan cheese and fresh basil leaves.
