To make a great stir fry sauce, you need some key ingredients. The base usually includes soy sauce, which adds that salty flavor. You can use tamari if you need a gluten-free option. Next, I like to add pineapple juice for a hint of sweetness. It also brings a fruity touch to the dish.

Ingredients

1/4 cup soy sauce (or tamari for gluten-free)

1/4 cup pineapple juice

2 tablespoons rice vinegar

1 tablespoon sesame oil

1 tablespoon honey or maple syrup

1 teaspoon freshly minced ginger

1 teaspoon garlic, minced

1 teaspoon cornstarch mixed with 1 tablespoon water (for thickening)

1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional for heat)

1 tablespoon green onions, finely sliced (for garnish)

Instructions

In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, pineapple juice, rice vinegar, sesame oil, honey, minced ginger, and minced garlic until well combined.

In a separate small bowl, mix the cornstarch with the water to create a slurry; set aside.

Pour the sauce mixture into a saucepan and bring to a light simmer over medium heat.

Once the sauce starts to bubble, stir in the cornstarch slurry until the sauce thickens, about 1-2 minutes.

Add red pepper flakes if you prefer a spicy kick, and stir well to incorporate.

Remove from heat and let it cool slightly. The sauce can be used immediately or stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week.

Drizzle over your favorite stir-fried vegetables and proteins, and garnish with sliced green onions before serving.
