Ingredients

6 buttery croissants

6 slices of deli ham

6 slices of Swiss cheese

1 cup shredded Gruyère cheese

1 tablespoon Dijon mustard

1 tablespoon honey

1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)

Freshly ground black pepper to taste

Fresh chives, finely chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Slice each croissant in half horizontally, being careful not to cut all the way through.

In a small bowl, mix together the Dijon mustard and honey until well combined.

Spread about a teaspoon of the mustard-honey mixture inside each croissant.

Place a slice of ham and a slice of Swiss cheese inside each croissant, then sprinkle with a tablespoon of shredded Gruyère cheese.

Close the croissants carefully and place them seam-side down on the prepared baking sheet.

Brush the tops of the croissants with the beaten egg to give them a golden finish.

Sprinkle a pinch of freshly ground black pepper over the croissants for added flavor.

Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until the croissants are golden brown and the cheese is bubbly.

Remove from the oven and let cool for a few minutes before garnishing with freshly chopped chives.
